A DAY IN THE LIFE

As our shop leader, you’ll be a working supervisor, and you’ll lead your team of professional technicians while actively participating in the maintenance and repair of our fleet of tractors and trailers. You’ll manage workflows, review repair orders, and diagnose complex issues. You’ll embody a hands-on leadership approach that demonstrates commitment, expertise, and a collaborative spirit, ensuring high standards and efficient operations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Leadership — Lead our shop team by organizing workflows and ensuring efficiency, as well as building a strong team culture.
  • Mentorship — You’ll serve as a mentor to apprentices working to put their career into gear as a technician.
  • Preventative Maintenance — Complete PMs on a variety of trucks, trailers, and equipment. PMs include oil changes, filter services, APU services, seals, bearings, DOT inspections, and other preventative maintenance.
  • Corrective Maintenance — Perform corrective maintenance on heavy equipment, including body panel replacement, electrical diagnosis and replacements, driver monitoring equipment issues, frame repairs, and much more.
  • Diagnostic Work — Diagnose issues with fleet equipment using diagnostic software.
  • DOT Compliance — Conduct annual DOT inspections to ensure all equipment is compliant.
  • Order Review — Review your team’s repair orders to ensure complete and timely work.
  • Inventory Collaboration — Collaborate with the inventory control teams to maintain an accurate inventory.
  • Maintenance Initiatives — Support management in the completion of maintenance initiatives and identification of opportunities.

YOUR SKILLSET

  • Team Leadership — Proven experience leading a small team through the development of a collaborative and positive environment.
  • Diesel Technologies — Prior experience in diesel technologies completing preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnostic Software — The ability to use and understand diagnostic software.
  • High-Energy Environment — The ability to work in a high-energy environment with shifting deadlines.
  • Mentorship — Experience mentoring apprentices and helping them develop their skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least five (5) years of experience in diesel technologies / heavy equipment repair. An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered.
  • At least two (2) years of experience managing staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in Diesel Technologies, Transportation Management, or a related field, and at least seven (7) years of experience in diesel technologies / heavy equipment repair. An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrable experience in mentoring, leading, and developing apprentice technicians.

SALARY AND SCHEDULE

  • Salary — $70,000 - $90,000 per year, decided based on experience.
  • Schedule — Full-time; On-Site; Monday to Friday; Participation in on-call.
